Although a relatively new concept, three distinct research clusters are emerging: analysis, administration, and governance infrastructures.
Governance infrastructures is a concept that focuses on (1) building the next generation of public organizations, (2) designing open, collaborative, distributed, and public governance frameworks and plaVorms, and (3) advancing the innovative capacity of public institutions using technology.
Governance Infrastructures
Governance infrastructures in the network society consist of a collection of communication and computation technologies, systems, people, policies, practices, and relationships that interact to support governing activities ( Johnston, 2010; Johnston & Hansen, 2011).
Policy informatics affords an opportunity to design novel governance infrastructures within existing institutions and beyond.
